Fr. Joseph Maxwell, S.J., president of Boston College, has been elected president of the American Association of Colleges at the end of a three day session in which President Eisenhower and Archbishop O'Boyle of Washington stressed the urgency of spiritual education.

Some 700 college presidents, deans and other educational leaders heard President Eisenhower say: " Our greatest potential enemy in the world is a frank exponedt of a doctrine of materialism."
