Sir,-I was very interested to read Mr. Kelly's call for more Catholic Secondary schools and I agree most profoundly with everything that he says. But there is yet another aspect of this problem which he does not mention.
am a Catholic teaching at a big Protestant public school for boys. My record there has been most successful, and now, in my middle thirties. I am Head of a Department with a very distinguished list of scholarship awards. But where do I go from here? I see my Protestant friends. often with fewer qualifications than 1 possess. going off to hcadmasterships of Seconddary Grammar schools. hut as a Catholic I know that I should not be seriously considered for these positions. I should love to be headmaster of a Catholic Grammar school, working with a real sense of purpose with a Catholic staff and Catholic boys. but where are the Catholic Grammar schools for which I could apply?
Catholic Schoolmaster,
