New Parish Is Established In Northampton Diocese

By a Staff Reporter The new temporary church of St. Paul's, Thrapston, Northants, was solemnly opened and blessed by Mgr. Parker, Bishop of Northampton, on Sunday last.
It was after nearly 400 years Thrapston, in 1940, when all the
that Mass was again celebrated at villages in the area housed many Catholic children evacuated from London. However, even when the children returned home, there proved to be a considerable number of Catholics within a few miles, and the Mass Centre
Dominican Fathers from Easton served the Mass Centre, and the local Girl Guides put their hall at the disposal of the priests at a very nominal rent, for eight years.
Meanwhile similar development was taking place in the Oundle area, and recently Bishop Parker, of Northampton, decided that the time was ripe to erect a new parish taking in parts of the huge parishes of Peterborough, Corby, Rushden and Huntingdon. An unused chapel was purchased and converted and within a few months Thrapston's temporary church has been built The parish priest is the Rev.
