Opus Del men ordained in Spain

MORE than 60 men from 16 countries will be ordained priests this Sunday, at a shrine of Our Lady in Spain. Among them will be a Liverpudlian, Philip Crossey. and a Dubliner with strong Manchester connections. Philip Griffin.
They are all members of Opus Dei, the institution of the Church founded in 1928 by Mgr Josemaria Escriva who died in June 1975. The process or his beatification was opened in Rome last May.
Apart from their professional experience, each of these men has received a deep and careful spiritual and pastoral training. Within the next few months they will be returning to their respective countries to carry out their priestly work, Philip Crossey from Anfield, Liverpool. studied French at Bangor University and later spent two years teaching English in Japan. Before going to Rome to complete his studies, he used to help run Kelston Boys' Club in South London.
Philip Griffin taught at St John Plessington High School, Wythenshawe. He was also director of Greygarth Hall. a student residence at Manchester University. The new priests will be ordained by Cardinal Roger Etchecaray, President of the French Episcopal Conference and Archbishop of Marseilles.
