A native of Buffalo, New York, Fr Steinhilber joined the Columban Fathers in the U.S. in 1947. He was ordained priest at St Columban's, Nebraska. in 1951. He holds the degree, Doctor in Canon Law, from the Gregorian University in Rome, Fr Steinhilber was a professor at St Columban's Seminary, Milton, Mass., and was active in giving retreats.
