300 men walk eight miles to Penrhys

Among 300 men from many parts of the Cardiff diocese who walked the eight miles along the old pilgrims' way from Mountain Ash to Pcnrhys on Sunday were two 11-year-old hcirs, Colin Mullins and Brian Dunclifie.

The procession crossed the mountain 1,000 ft. up, passed the

Llanwonno forest. through Taylorstown to Ferndale, thence tip the second hill to the Shrine of Our Lady of Penrhys.

At the shrine the Rosary was led and a sermon was preached by Fr. C. P. Reidy, chaplain to the Cardiff Catholic Young Men's Society. Fr. Reidy spoke of the ancient devotion Wales had for Our Lady until the King's commissioners took away the old oak statue after the dissolutiOn of the monasteries.
