NEW BISHOP IN NORWAY

Tromso consecration

NORWANORWAY'S third Catholic Y'S Mgr. John Wernher. was last week consecrated titular Bishop of Vasada and Vicar Apostolic of Northern Norway, by Bishop Mangers of Oslo, The co-consecrators were Bishop Ruth, Vicar Apostolic of Central Norway. and Bishop Cohhen, of Helsinki, Finland.

The ceremony took place in Fronts°. where Catholics number only 300 out of a population of more than 350.000.

Ten priests from other parts of Norway went to the consecration. as did the Mayor and the City Commissioner, who attended as an official representative of the Norwegian State Lutheran Church.

There are only 5.000 Catholics among Norway's 3,000,000 people.
