SIR,-I wonder how many Catholics living in rural areas realise that many village shops have now started Foyles' Lending Libraries.
For the negligible sum of threepence or sixpence a week, every conceivable book can be ordered with very little delay, and at the present time the following books take pride of place on the shelves, Saint Francis Xavier, by Fe Broderick, Si., Saints for Now, edited by Clare Booth Luce, and The Singer not the Song, by Audrey Erskine Lindop. Not only is this a great saving on a postal subscription to a Catholic library, but it also strikes me as a. valuable form of apostolate to nonCatholics. I caught one the other day furtively stealing from the shop with F. I. Sheed's Society and Sanity!
