Italian Catholics Need Not Fear Their New Government

—VATICAN RADIO

With the change of the Italian Cove, nment when Badoglio became its head, there was concern about the future relations between the State authorityof that country and the Catholic Church. This fear has now disappeared. said Vatican Radio. .The Director-General of the Italian Catholic Action, Mgr. Colli. Archbishop of Parma, has stated that the aim of Italian Catholics is clear: to collaborate with the Government of their country, Italian Catholics have no grounds for anxiety whatsoever, said the speaker. The attitude of the Catholic Action is determined by certain principles, still valid to-day, the chief being that the Catholic ,Church loyally collaborates with any Government that does not persecute religion. Catholics of all countries—who are faithful to their religion—have always excelled in civic virtues.
