Unexploded Bombs Save Basilica

The feast of St. Lawrence was ob. served on Tuesday in the crypt cliapd of Pius IX, which is intact amid the ruins of the Basilica of San Lorenzo.

It has now been learned that the failure of two bombs to explode near the tower and the.crypt probably saved these two portions of the Basilica from destruction in the aerial bombardment of Rome.

The Capuchine, who have charge of the parish of San Lorenzo, are still housing some 200 homeless persons.
