Cardinal sends wishes to Carey

CARDINAL CORMAC MurphyO'Connor has sent warm congratulations and best wishes to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr George Carey, who celebrates 10 years in office this week, writes Silvia Guzzetti.

The Archbishop of Westminster's message said: "I warmly congratulate my good friend, Archbishop Carey, on his 10th anniversary as Arch bishop of Canterbury. It is a day when he can rejoice in his achievement of strong Christian leadership and ecumenical endeavour."

Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor worked closely with the Archbishop of Canterbury during his time as co-chairman of the joint theological body, the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC).
