The President of Italy has named Don Luigi Sturzo, former leader of the Italian Popular Party—forerunner of the Christian Democrat Party—a Senator for life.
Fr. Sturzo was born 80 years ago in Sicily. During the Mussolini regime he was an exile in the United States.
