Presbytery posting that packs a punch

by our Rome correspondent POLICE were called to the main square of Martinsicuro about 80 miles north of Rome to break up two wrestling women, rowing over the job of housekeeper to the local parish priest.

The two, a 32 year old married woman and a 42 year old widow, are both responsible for cleaning the priest's home

and adjoining parish church. They were found "grappling with each other and pulling each other's hair" when police arrived in the piazza.

The window, who has now lodged charges of "abuse, threats and defamation" against the younger woman, told police, "the fact is that I am the better cleaner".
