Appointments for two Curial Cardinals THE HOLY FATHER has ap

pointed Cardinal Bruno to succeed the late Cardinal Massimi as Pusfect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Segnatura. the Holy See's supreme court, and President of the Pontifical Commission for the Interpretation of the Code of Canon Law, Cardinal Ciriaci, formerly Papal Nuncio in Lisbon, has been appointed to succeed Cardinal Bruno as Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of the Council.

This Congregation was established to ensure the observance of the decrees of the Council of Trent and it sees also to the observance of other precepts of the Church.

Cardinal Bruno is one of the few Cardinals who are not Archbishops or Bishops. He becomes the Holy See's "Lord Chief Justice" at the age of 78.
