A live point charter to promote the work of the Youth Service through the development of clubs and centres under Catholic sponsorship, is announced by the newly-formed National Council for Catholic Youth Clubs. The Council has now taken over all functions of the National Federation of Catholic Youth Clubs.
At the inaugural meeting of the Council held in London last week it was announced that the Trustees are Archbishop Heenan of Westminster, the Countess of Albemarle, and the Earl of Craven. Lady Albemarle is President of the Council: the Hierarchy have appointed Bishop Foley of Lancaster as Episcopal Adviser, and Mgr. E. Mahoney of Southwark as Chairman.
The five point charter of the Council aims at promoting and developing an adequate pattern of leisure-time facilities for young people through the diocesan associations of youth clubs: encouraging adult Catholics to offer their services: advising on the facilities avail .111e for training leaders; assisting in negotiations with educational and local authorities and other voluntary bodies in the field of Youth Service: developing training centres for adult and young people. and to conduct training events.
