OBITUARY

Mgr. Humphrey Johnson
Mgr. Humphrey J. T. Johnson, the Women's Chaplain at Cambridge Colleges, died on limes-day last week at the age of 85.
Born in Alderwasley, Derbyshire, in 1890, Mgr. Johnson was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He was received into the Church in 1912. and studied for the priesthood at the Beds College in Rome,
Mgr, Johnson, who was a commander (with Start of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, was a keen student of Vatican diplomacy, and wrote several books and pamphlets nil the subject (" The Papacy and the Kingdom of Italy ", "Vatican diplo
macy in the World War", etc). lie also contributed articles to many clerical reviews and periodicals.
Fr. Peter Moran, S.J.
Fr, Peter Moran, S.J.. of All Saints*, Wardour, wilts, died in a Bristol nursing home recently, aged 65, Born in Liverpool and educated at St. Francis Xavier's College there, he entered the Society of Jesus In 1913 and was ordained priest in 1925. Apart from two periods of teaching at St. Michael's College, Leeds, in 1927 and at Wimbledon College in 1929, he was mostly en• gaged in parish or retreat work, although his health was never very good.
His appointments included: Annunciation, Chesterfield (1926); Holy Cross, St. Helens (1930-31); St. Ignatius, Preston (1931-35); Sacred Heart, Blackpool (1936-41): Manresa College, Roehampton (1942-43); Loyola Hall, Ralnhill (1943-451; Im maculate Conception, Spinkhill (19441; St. Mary's, Great Yarmouth I19461; St. Ignatius, Stamford Hill, London (1947.52); and All Saints, Wardour (1953-58).
