The Pope has appointed Cardinal Gilroy, Archbishop of Sydney. Papal Legate to the plenary council of the Indian Bishops, to be held in January, 1950, in Bangalore. Cardinal Gilroy was Papal Legate at the 4th centenary celebrations of the landing of St. Francis Xavier in Japan.
