Nazis Upset By British Conservatives
From Our German Correspondent Postponement of the first Congress of the Reich Colonial League came as a result of the unsatisfactory response from abroad made to Hitier's proclamation that Germany will n-or rest until her colonial claims are fulfilled.
The congress was to have been held at Breslau last week and to take the form of tremendous demonstration for the slogan " We want equality of rights in the colonial question."
At the last moment it was postponed indefinitely. There is little chance that it will be held until 1937.
Intense Propaganda The Reich Colonial League was founded on June 16, 1936, and started immediately an intense propaganda, strengthening all practical institutions, • such as colonial schools. Some universities have established chairs for German colonial policy.
The Breslau Congress was to become an extraordinary and imposing event. Its prospective proclamation was prepared by Hitler's remarks about the colonial question in his speech at the Nuremburg Nazi Congress.
It seems, however, that the leaders of the German colonial movement are absolutely unsatisfied with the response Hitler's words have found in international opinion.
They are particularly disappointed about the attitude of the conference at Margate of the Conservative Party of Great Britain. The impression is that the time is not yet ripe and that international propaganda must first make . some headway before the Breslau Congress can be helpful and eventually successful.
