METHODISTS AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS A Call to the Young

At Central and Kingsway Halls, London, last week, the Methodists launched a great new movement to arouse the younger people of that body to an interest in urgent national problems and to enlist their help in solving them. " Youth is computed to lie. between the ages of eighteen and thirty-five, so very large reserves arc being called up to cope with such questions as housing, unemployment, excessive drinking and gambling, and war."

Some time ago an inquiry into social conditions was conducted in over five hundred Methodist areas. Afterwards, partly as a result of those investigations, the conference prepared a series of declarations. defining its attitude in regard to the
