A continued expansion in three groups of industries appears from the preliminary figures published in the Census of Production for 1934. Statistics relate to grain milling, sugar confectionery and jambaking, and aerated waters, cider, cordial, etc.

These three industries, writes our Irish correspondent, employed 8.397 persons in 1934, as compared with 7,654 in 1933.

In the grain milling industry the total value of goods made and work done increased from £5,952,071 in 1933 to £6,776,108 in 1934. Total value of all wheat products increased from 8,501,706 cwts. in 1933 to 9,520,3(H) last year, with a selling value of £3,688,317 and £4,147,289.
