Wiltshire Catholics send tsunami aid

THE CATHOLIC community in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, has sent a container of supplies to a country devastated by the tsunami disaster.

Project coordinator Jerome McCormack secured donations of a free container and transport from Britain to Payagola, Sri Lanka, where a number of schools and villages have been devastated.

Mr McCormack said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity people show and I am so pleased that the project has been supported in so many ways.” After waiting almost three weeks, Archbishop Oswald Gomis of Colombo has confirmed the safe arrival of the container. Once the container is emptied, it will be used as a classroom.
