THE hard contempt we used to be up against in this country has been shot to bits by the hard facts. Secular liberalism is quite unable to cope with them and is positively ' dangerous.
That is being recognised. And That ei pe of mind is no longer
heen a brilliant Catholic apologetic in recent Years which has won respect. There is a tendency now for the intellectual to admit that " there's an enormous amount to be said for the Catholic Church."
There arc. however, those who still feel that the choice is between two totalitarianisms. There is still a deep feeling in some that it is un-British to he a Catholic.
The nnn-Catholic bodies. because there is heresy in them. despite a profound love of Our Lord. cannot face the modern problems. And the people know it. Quite simple people know it.
They know humanity is in trouble and that non-Catholics have permitted ideas and practices that are partial causes of the situation.
