The Ideal Home Exhibition which will be held from March 30 to April 24 at Olympia will be of great interest to all women.
There is one stall, however, that will be of interest to us for another reason. It represents an industry started by Catholics in one of the worst parts of the Distressed Areas of Cumberland, at Cleator Moor. About three-quarters of the town has been unemployed for over ten years, and a large percentage of them are excellent Catholics.
A Catholic organisation has recently made an attempt to start a toy-making industry in the district, and some of the models the men have made will be shown this year at Olympia.
The toys consist of animals, Noah's Arks, caravans, horses and carts, and a variety of wheeled toys for pulling and pushing round the nursery. The caravans are copied from the one recently presented to H.R.H. The Duke of Kent, when he visited the Centre.
There will be a special feature of toys, etc., suitable for kindergarten and nursery schools.
The stall is in the special children's toy. section, called Piccaninny Circus, and it is called Ckator Moor Industries.
