Norway's new Bishop

One of the Bishops Cardinal Griffin will meet in Norway this week during the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the establishment of the Hierarchy there is 54-year-old Mgr. John Ruth, who was consecrated last April as the first Vicar Apostolic of Central Norway.

Born in Germany, Bishop Ruth had a long and varied experience of ecclesiastical administration in the Aachen diocese. He was Superior of the House of Studies there for six years until 1939, a period of many difficulties for the Church.

The Bishop is a member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts and Perpetual Adoration.
