EXPECTANT MOTHERS' GUILD Set Up in America

A new and interesting development in Guilds made its appearance in Detroit, U.S.A., recently. With the permission of the Bishop a Catholic guild for expectant mothers, to be called the Guild of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour and St. Gerard, has been set up in one of that city's largest parishes.

Physicians, hospital officials. nurses and the heads of various Catholic organisations have endorsed the undertaking. terming it " the finest movement started in Detroit in these times of ' antilife.' " The guild seeks to provide spiritual and material assistance to young married couples, helping them to overcome the financial difficulties of parenthood and instructing them in their rights and obligations in the married state. According to the plan, arrangements are made whereby the members receive financial aid at the time of confinement.
