Cathedral

Sir,—"Liverpool will be host to 300 World Prelates" says one of your headlines.

"British relief organisations who have this week poured

material aid into Turkish earthquake disaster areas have appealed for more funds and

clothing to help the estimated 70,000 homeless and 3,000 injured"—another headline on the same page.

Liverpool Cathedral will not be so grand a cathedral as at first envisaged, so is it too much to hope that there is still time for the grandiose plans for the opening ceremonies to be scaled down accordingly, and that some of the money which would otherwise have been spent at "one of the largest Catholic functions to be held in Britain" will find its way to those who are hungry and without shelter?

If we cannot find Christ in our neighbour we'll not find Him in any cathedral.
