SUMMER SCHOOL OF CATHOLIC ACTION To Be Held in London in August

At the request of Cardinal Hinsley the Grail is organising the Summer School of Catholic Action which is to be held at St. Charles' College, London, W.10, from August 12 to August 19 this year.

Preparations for the school, which is planned for young women who wish to equip themselves for active work in the apostolate of the laity, are being made in conjunction with a special committee on which the Westminster Board of Catholic Action will be represented with the Catholic Action Organisation for Girls, the Catholic Social Guild, the Catholic Women's League, the Grail, Our Lady's Catechists, the Legion of Mary and other societies.

In order that attendance for the week shall involve as little expenditure as possible special terms are being fixed for those who have to come to London from a considerable distance, or who wish to attend single lectures. Yet the ordinary fees, inclusive of full board and accommodation, are certainly low; no more than £2 2s. a head.

ARCHBISHOP GODFREY TO GIVE FINAL ADDRESS Bishop Myers will perform the opening ceremony on August 12. On August 19 the school will come to an end after Solemn High Mass sung by the Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Godfrey, who will give the final address.

The syllabus covers a very wide field. There will be lectures on modern social problems, the Catholic solution of them, recent developments in psychology, modern Catholic education, the liturgical revival, apologetics, and, in general, on the spiritual background of modern life. These will be followed by discussions in which the students will take part and arrangements have been made also for demonstrations, the showing of films and visits to housing and social centres.

DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS

Lecturers who have already promised their services include Fr. T. Fitzgerald, Fr. A. Eirington, OP., Fr. Leycester King, S.J., Fr. V. Rochford, Mme. Montessori, Mother Ward, Mother Mary Paul, Mr F. J. Sheed, Miss Hugh Smith, Mr Oscar Spencer and Mr Geoffrey Webb.

Particulars may be obtained from the Grail, 58, Sloane Street, S.W.1.
