A Gospel experience on Galilee beach

WHEN I went to the Holy Land in 1973 on a diocesan pilgrimage I remember we had 10 days in which to fit in as much as was physically possible of this quite unique land. At the end of our stay we were withoul exception, I think, pretty holloweyed and exhaustea, but silo filled with a great sense of exhilaration as the land where Jesus walked came to life for us. Looking back on it, perhaps we could have achieved as much, though with less exertion, if instead of basing one base in Jerusalem to which we had to return each night to sleep, we had had a second centre In which to spend part of our time. That is the benefit of hindsight.
Fellowship Tours offer many different Itineraries in their 1983-84 brochure with
two bases, in Jerusalem and in Tiberias. I confess i would have valued thne In Tiberias, there on the shore of Galilee. I know it is a sea well-known for sudden storms, and indeed that our Lord was present at more than one. To experience one (from the safety of the strand) is just the sort of fillip to give life to the Gospel pages. Peregrmus
