Bishop of Salford Consecrated

The consecration of Mgr. Marshall as Bishop of Salford took place yesterday, Thursday, at St. John's Cathedral, Salford. The ceremony began at 10.30 a.m.

The consecrating prelate was Dr. Downey, Archbishop of Liverpool, and the co-consecrating bishops were the Bishop of Nottingham, Mgr. McNulty and the Bishop of Leeds, Mgr, Poskitt.

The sermon was preached by Mgr. Moriarty, Bishop of Shrewsbury.

Other Bishops present were Mgr. Cotter, Bishop of Portsmouth; Mgr. Lee, Bishop of Clifton; Mgr. McGrath, Bishop of Menevia ; Mgr. McCormack, Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle; Mgr, Dey, Bishop-in-Ordinary to H.M. Forces; Mgr. Griffin, Bishop of Abya; and Mgr. Mathew, Auxiliary Bishop of West litint was I ..9 intended to hold a public luncheon after the ceremony and a demonstration of welcome to the new Bishop on the evening of the consecration, but owing to war conditions these have been abandoned.
