From Mr Kevin Barry SIR – For me, the overriding message from the Pope’s visit was his reminder for us to return to a life of prayer. Urging us to remember our proud history, and of the times when we were a Christian country, to pray to our wonderful saintly men and women who gave us such good examples to follow.
That we might close Ushaw, should not be seen as a retrograde step, but as a gentle reminder that all is not well, and that we should give serious thought for the future. As Pope Benedict said, England was once the dowry of Mary. Is a few moments prayer every day, too much to ask of us to bring her back?
Yours faithfully, KEVIN BARRY Englefield Green, Surrey
