53rd anniversary of Fatima

CARD1NALC'ARBERRY, Archbishop of St. Louis, accompanied by more than 200 American pilgrims, flew to Portugal last week to attend the 53rd anniversary ceremonies at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. were ere met at Lisbon airport by Bishop Pereira Venancio of Leiria (better known abroad as the Bishop ofm Fatima) and Canon Galaba de Oliveira, organiser of the ceremonies. A letter from Pope Paul to Bishop Pereira Venancio was read at the end of the High h en Mass which concluded the ceremonies. Cardinal Carberry's homily at the Mass was read in English with a translated summary in Portuguese. Afterwards the Cardinal I went to I.eiria to inaugurate and unveil Pope Paul VI Centre nd unveil a plaque bearing the name of the Pope given to a street in the city. It was on May 13, 1917, that three shepherd children age seven, nine and ten said they had seen and spoken with "a beautiful Lady from Heaven."
