To represent English-speaking peoples all over the world: The Rev. Dr. Walter S. Carroll, Ainerican priest attached to the Papal Secretariat of State, has been appointed to the Supreme Council of the Missionary Union of the Clergy, representing the English-speaking peoples. When he was appointed to the Papal Secretariat of State in September, 1940, Dr. Carroll had then only recently returned to the United States after nearly a decade abroad. After attending Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, he made graduate studies in Philosophy at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, subsequently attending the North American College and the Apollinare Institute in Romc. He also made special studies at the Universities of Tours, Florence and Perugia.
Marriage loans in Spain: It is announced that in the six months ending December 31, 1941, 10,030 Spanish couples. have married under a scheme launched last summer whereby loans are arranged to enable people to marry.
