Jesuit suspended in Puerto Rico

FR. SALVADOR FREIXEDO, S.J., who wrote a hook criticising the Church, has been ordered not to exercise his priestly functions by the bishops of Puerto Rico's four dioceses. They said his suspension would continue until he "rectifies his teachings with the true teachings of the Church."
Fr. Freixedo's book, "My Church Sleeps," which is subtitled "Not apt for satisfied Christians," has already been banned in Spain. Four thousand copies have been sold in Puerto Rico, and a new edition of 10,000 is planned for sale in the island.
The priest said recently he had not seen the bishops' declaration "except in the newspapers," and that he would continue with his priestly duties "until 1 see the declaration."
