Call To The North to be superseded

THE Northern Consultation For Mission is to supersede the Call To The North in the ecumenical life of Churches in the North of England.

The gathering of Church leaders held annually at Scargill House, Yorkshire, since 1969 is itself to be known as the Northern Consultation for Mission. Its joint chairmen arc Dr Stuart Blanch, Archbishop of York, Archbishop Derek Worlock of Liverpool. and the Rev Trevor Hubbard, North-West Area Superintendent of the Baptist Church. Thinking and planning for the consultation, and the commissioning of working parties to deal with matters needing further thought and action. will he done by a ninemember committee composed of three Anglican, three Catholic, and three Free Church representatives.

The region's ecumenical officers have arranged the first of their own regional consultations to be held at Scargill on April 27-29. Canon John Hunter, who has been executive secretary for CTN from its beginning, will revert to his normal duties in the Liverpool diocese as from May 1.
