School names first head girl

THE Marist Preparatory School in Sunninghill, Berkshire, has seen huge excitement and anticipation as the girls have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of an inaugural head girl and deputy head girl.

School history was made recently when headteacher Jenny Finlayson announced the appointment of Laura Beaumont as the new head girl and Tiffène DuggenHill as deputy head girl.

The girls have been through a searching and rigorous process including completing a formal application, a panel interview and finally making a speech to the whole school community. Their roles will be to represent the school at events by making speeches, welcoming visitors to the Marist Preparatory School and looking after the Marist Sisters when they attend school events. They will also assist staff, be a role model for younger pupils, be able to demonstrate initiative and solve problems.

Miss Finlayson said: “The posts involve signifi cant responsibility and play an important part in the girl’s personal development. We are blessed to have had so many girls wishing to apply for the role and to have had the help of Katie Frankel, our senior school head girl and Sister Rose Revilles, governor, during the selection process. Laura and Tiffène are both delightful girls who display modesty and are respected by their fellow pupils and staff. They will act as
