From the Hon Gerard Noel Sir, I read Sheridan Gilley's letter (May 14) with care and interest. My remarks about the Christian priesthood were in no way based on Calvinist doctrine.
My reference to Calvin was a mere obiter dictum limited to one short sentence quite separate from the main argument.
Mr Gilley should have read my article as a whole with greater care before putting pen to paper at such length. He made no allusion to any of my main points.
