NEW BISHOP OF MENEVIA

The Holy Father has appointed Mgr. Daniel Joseph Hannon, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Cardiff, to be Bishop of Menevia in succession to Mgr. Michael McGrath, who was translated to the Welsh Metropolitan See eleven months ago.

Mgr. Hannon is a native of Yorkshire, was born in Rotherham in 1884, and educated at the English College, Valladolid, and at Oscott.

His studies in Spain and Italy and his active connection with the people of Wales have given the new Bishop a knowledge of Spanish, Italian and Welsh. This last will be of great use to him in his new sphere of work.
