GIFTS to help raise funds for a new clinic in St. Raphael's Residential Centre for mentally handicapped boys and men at Barvin Park, Potters Bar, Middlesex, were sent by Mr. Acker Bilk, Mr. Billy Butlin. Helena Rubenstein, Boots Chemists, Smiths Crisps, Woolworths, Gilbeys and Tescos, when the St. Raphael's Fellowship held their annual fete on Saturday.
The City of London Regiment of the Royal Artillery (T.A.) sounded a fanfare for the opening of the fete and played selections throughout the afternoon.
St. Raphael's, run by the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God, has over 140 mentally handicapped boys and men, and there is a pressing need for a clinic where medical. dental and psychiatric treatment can be given. Saturday's fete raised some £300 towards this. and previous collections shave brought in £1,000, but another £9,000 is still needed.
