Tim M isi.a1D body of a Russian Orthodox saint has been discovered in a St Petersburg museum's vaults.
The mummified corpse of Saint Alexander Svirsky was identified at the St Petersburg museum of military medicine. where it had lain for decades. The saint's body was believed to have been destroyed by Bolsheviks during the 1917 revolution. But a Russian newspaper said that church officials were alerted to the body when it began to give off a sweet smell and drip myrrh.
After a post-mortem confirmed the remains belonged to the 16th Century saint, they were hurriedly removed to the Church of Faith. Hope and Love in St Petersburg.
