WOMEN from around the world met in Mexico this week to focus on the problems they face as Catholics in the modern world.
As many as 28 delegates from the United Kingdom joined 500 other women at yesterday's opening of the Catholic Women's Organisations'conference in Guadalajara. The women processed from their Aranzazu Hotel to the city's cathedral for a special evening mass celebrating the start of the meeting.
Environmental issues, family violence, reproductive technology, health and nutrition and women in the church are expected to be top of the agenda at the meeting.
Participants, who will study together in workshops looking at material prepared over many months, represent the Catholic Women's League, the Union of Catholic Mothers and equivalent organisations from across the globe, Members of the Federation of Polish Women Abroad are also present.
The conference is held every four years.
