JESUIT ANNIVERSARY

THE fourth centenary of the Bull of Paul III, approving the formation of the Society of Jesus, occurs on September 27. This Bull, Regimini Militantis Ecciesiae, which founded the Society and sanctioned the first formula of its Institute, was dated September 27, 1540.

On Friday next anyone who visits a Jesuit church and fulfils the usual conditions, can gain a Plenary Indulgence specially granted by the Pope in a letter to the General of the Society.

(Next week the Catholic Herald will devote a page to special articles about the history and work of the Society of Jesus.)
