TWENTY-FOUR Year 6 pupils from St Martin’s Ampleforth prep school in Yorkshire were delighted to be able to entertain residents of the Alba Rose residential care home on Tuesday, November 10.

The children sang a medley of songs that are associated with war, includ ing “White Cliffs of Dover” and “Two Little Boys”, as well as songs from musicals such as Oliver!

After singing the children had the opportunity to talk to the residents.

Rodrigue de Decker, 10, was fascinated by the stories he heard from Josephine Russell as both of them are from Belgium.

They chatted in French about how the teenage Josephine was instrumental in helping residents of her town buy supplies on the black market. “Let’s hope he didn’t pick up too many tips to bring back to school,” joked Mr Conyngham, director of music.
