MGR. WILLIAM THEODORE " HEARD was born in Edinburgh in 1884. His father, a clergyman, was headmaster of Fettes, a leading Edinburgh school.
Fie went to Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied for a degree in law. While there he became a rowing blue. In 1910 he became a solicitor and practised in London. The same year he was received into the Church.
