churches for Mary's year
TWO churches of Our Lady will be opened and a third will be started during Mary's year in the Glasgow archdiocese.
The first Sunday of the Year— December 13—will see the opening of the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Glasgow.
This will be followed in 1954 by the opening of St. Mary's Church, Duntocher. And the foundation stone of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption will be laid in the Ruchill district of Glasgow.
These ceremonies were announced by Archbishop Campbell when. addressing 2.000 people at the Catholic Truth Society rally on Sunday in St. Andrew's Hall. he announced the arrangements to celebrate Mary's Year.
These include a week's retreat during May in all the parishes, and a general Holy Communion of the whole archdiocese on the last Sunday of the month.
It is hoped that the numbers going on the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes at the Glasgow Fair period will be doubled or trebled.
