'Roots' call to Anglicans

A CALL for Catholic renewal in the Church of England has gone out from the Anglican bishops of Chichester, Truro and Woolwich, the Abbot of Nashdom and Brother Michael, SS F.

In an open letter they point to a need for the Church "to return to its roots and recover the wholeness of its Faith so that it can present to the world of today a true life in the Spirit which is both Catholic and Evangelical."

They emphasise they are not advocating a return to "pietistic and harmful byways of-belief," but a recovery of wholeness. A conference to assessing the. progress of this renewal will be held at Loughborough next year from March 29 to April 1.
