C.W.L. back drive against obscene literature

Over 300.000 pornographic magazines, paper-back books, and photographs have been seized by the police in 1963, Most of this material came from a handful of publishers in America. These figurea were quoted at a recent national conference of the Public Morality Council held at Church House. Westminster.

The Council recorded its approval of work being done by similar bodies in America, and of activities of organizations such as the Youth Watch committees in this country.

The Council also recommended that careful consideration should be given to the possibility of proposing amendments to the Obscene Publications Act.

Among the societies affiliated to the Public Morality Council is the Catholic Women's League. which was represented at the Conference.
