SIR,—As one who whole-heartedly welcomes the endeavours of Mr Douglas Jerrold to establish that justice between nations upon which alone their peace can be built, I am critical in proportion of anything he may write that seems to me inconsistent with that aim. In the CATHOLIC HERALD of August 4. Mr Jerrold writes, " The entire civilised world. which does not wish for territorial changes," I doubt that statement to be true. Even if it be true, I am sure that the last to make It should be the Englishman.
