Monks re-issue cookery book

AMPLEFORTH’S monks have re-published a cookery book filled with the recipes for cooking apples from the abbey’s kitchens.

First published in 1982, Cooking Apples builds on the abbey’s tradition of growing apples in England’s northernmost commercial orchard and cooking with apples in dishes that range from the savoury to the sweet.

The abbey’s orchard was planted in 1900.
