New Hall opens doors for fund raising effort

by Annabel Fry berg HOT AIR balloons will fly and cakes be sold in an actionpacked open day at New Hall, near Chelmsford on Sunday May 3 from 1 lam to 5pm in a bid to raise the thousands of pounds necessary to pay for the building work of the Brentwood Pastoral Centre.

"The Old Barn" as the Pastoral Centre is called, is just that, a barn renovated and added to in order to create a selfsufficient inter-denominational meeting centre for the religious of the area. Complete with chapel reading room and office space for the centre's director Sr Mary Francis.

The building was completed before the funds to pay for it were fully raised, and this "day out" for the family with its manifold attractions, aims to go a long way towards raising these monies.

There will be an RAF Cadets Assault Course, Displays of Model Aircraft and from the Essex police, Pony Rides, Stalls, Lunches and Teas, and of course, tours of the historic house where Ann Boleyn lived in her youth.

The site houses the New Hall Catholic secondary school, for girls and Headteacher Sr Mary Francis said students will be on hand to provide support for their school.

Admission to the day-long festivities is a mere £2 for adults, and £1 for children.
