Walsingham Jubilee

SIR,-Seeing that this is a jubilee

year at Walsingham, one wonders whether any research has been done on the foundations of this shrine. The scholars apparently discredit the date 1061 A.D., but the will of Gaulfridus Faverches Is extant by which he left property and money for the shrine founded by his mother to be maintained by the secular clergy.

Surely this will must be dated and thus should throw considerable light on the subject.
